Community Choices Drop In Program
Position Title: Activity Worker
Details: 0.35 Indefinite Term EFT (approximately 14 hours/week)
Community Choices is a daily (M-F) afternoon program for individuals dealing with persistent mental health issues. The program is designed to offer a variety of activities that will encourage personal growth in daily living including social, educational and recreational.
Responsibilities Include:
- To assist the Coordinator in planning and organizing the activities with the participants of the Drop In Program
- To provide transportation to and from the activities with the Linden Place van.
- Connecting with participants and significant supports
- Promoting a safe and inviting atmosphere for all participants
Qualifications:
- High School graduate.
- Health Care or Human Services related training or experience desirable.
- Knowledge of mental illnesses/mental health issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Creativity and resourcefulness
- Experience facilitating group programing/activities is an asset
- Physical ability to perform required tasks and capacity to cope with stress.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training, Mental Health First Aid, ASIST Training are assets for this position
Technical requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- First Aid Certificate
- Subject to Criminal Record Check and Child and Adult Abuse Registry Check
