Linden Place Residential Care Worker

The role of the Residential Care Worker is to supervise and facilitate the daily activities of the residents in relation to their individual goals and plans. This is a full time indefinite term position consisting of shift work, i.e., days, evenings, weekends.

Community Mental Health Worker – Access

Position Summary 

Under the supervision of the Regional Manager- Access & Intensive Case Management, the Community Mental Health Access Worker provides a welcoming point of contact for clients and referral sources seeking Mental Health Program services in the Southern Health-Santé Sud region.  The role includes developing effective alliances with callers, collecting information about the request for service, assessment of the service request for appropriateness to the Mental Health Program, evaluation of client risk as well as crisis intervention where indicated and transfer of the request to the assessment and treatment team. The incumbent provides information on community resources, follow-up and risk assessment to clients awaiting service, provides information on alternate community resources to referral sources and/or clients not appropriate to the service.

The incumbent will exercise a high level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited post-secondary education in Health Related Social Sciences, i.e. BSW, BScMH, BScPN, BN, RPN with a minimum of two (2) years supervised counseling experience
  • Active license and registration to practice as required by professional association and Provincial legislation
  • Certificate in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) or (prepared to acquire)
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, problem solving skills, detail-oriented and well developed communication skills
  • Ability to support and implement recovery oriented practices of hope and optimism throughout the organizational culture
  • Good work and attendance record
  • Demonstrated ability to work within Respectful Workplace policies and guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and across service sectors
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office suite of programs

Conditions of Employment

  • Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check, as appropriate
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00
